Students

One of the most fulfilling parts of science is supervising and collaborating with brilliant young people. Here I show the ones with whom I do that now.

Collaborators

I have been lucky to work with many talented people during my career. Here I talk a bit about the people that I worked/interacted with.

Alumni

I have been lucky to work with many talented people during my career. Here I talk a bit about students that I supervised.

Leen Mys

Leen did her master's thesis with me in 2024 while she was visiting Uppsala University for her Erasmus program. Her work was to investigate the Cooper problem close to exceptional points. Currently, she is a PhD student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Emiel Slootman

Emiel completed his master's degree at Utrecht University in 2023, with Cristiane Morais Smith as his supervisor and Lumen Eek and me as his daily supervisors. His thesis was about the properties of non-Hermitian photonics, and led to a Physical Review Research paper and a preprint.. Currently, he is a PhD student at Twente University.

Robert Cañellas Núñez

Robert did his master's thesis at Utrecht University with Prof. Cristiane Morais Smith and me as daily supervisor in 2022. His work was about spin-orbit coupling in fractals and resulted in a Nature Physics paper. Currently, he is doing his PhD at Radboud University.

Wies Uijttewaal

Wies completed her master's thesis at Utrecht University in 2022, with Cristiane Morais Smith as his supervisor and me as her daily supervisor. Her work was about using the Caldeira-Legget formalism applied to time crystals . Currently, she is an administrative assistant in an environmental company.

Maarten Droste

Maarten did his master's thesis at Utrecht University under the supervision of Cristiane Morais Smith and Paul Zegeling, and with me as daily supervisor in 2021 at Utrecht University. His thesis, made in the specialization in complex systems, was about using the Martin-Siggia-Rose formalism to Lotka-Volterra equations. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD at Vrije Universitiet Amsterdam .

Marina Moesia

Marina did a research internship with Luca Moriconi at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, with me as a daily supervisor. Her work was based on the study of hurricanes as vortex structures. She finished currently her bachelor in geophysics and acts on the field. She recently finished her first poetry book.
